– A. W. Tillinghast
Albert Warren Tillinghast (1876-1942) is one of the most prolific and influential architects of the early part of the 20th Century – the so-called “Golden Age” of golf course design. The aesthetic espoused by Tillinghast is one reason I find golf courses (good ones, at least) so compelling: the seamless transition between the hand of God and the hand of humans.
As a course rater for Golfweek, certified golf junkie, and artist, the beauty
of a golf course is of utmost importance to me.
