about me

I was born in 1972 in Madrid, Spain. My parents moved to northern Utah and my father began teaching Theater Arts at Utah State University.

I earned my B.A. in Russian from The College of William & Mary in 1994 and my Ph.D. in Linguistics from Duke University in 2000. Since 2005 I have taught rhetoric and composition, literature, humanities, and other courses at Neumann University, a small Franciscan school outside of Philadelphia.

Apart from any required curriculum during my early educational years, I do not have any formal art training. My art “career” began at the age of 2 when my mom plopped me in front of a pile of crayons and paper so that she could attend to my newborn sister. However, as a life-long learner and educator, I think I’ve done a decent job of teaching myself. But I’ll let you be the judge.

Most importantly, I am the father of two crazy, amazing kids and the partner of the most supportive, caring, beautiful woman I have ever met.
